Question:

How can free will exist if predestination exists, if everything is already determined by the time we are formed in our mothers’ wombs?

I would like to take a look at a portion of the Apostle Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians so that we can understand this concepts of free will and predestination and how they work together. How can man have free will if God is sovereign, especially in the area of man’s salvation? Here is how the epistle begins:

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus : 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him 11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, 12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation -having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1)

From this text, we have several affirmations about God:

God chose us for salvation in Christ before the foundation of the world.

God chose us beforehand to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ.

God formed a plan for our salvation in which He carried out at the right time.

God chose us beforehand to serve Him in praise and glory.

Now we must pay attention and be careful because all of these affirmations are valid for those who, after hearing the Word of Truth, the Gospel, BELIEVED in HIM. Here is where free will comes in to play. Many people have heard the message of the Gospel over the years but not all of them have chosen to believe. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross so that WHOEVER believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life. God chose those who believe in Christ beforehand and He knew them before they ever made a decision, just as the Scriptures claim:

29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8 )

God knew the people who would believe in Christ before they were ever born. He knew that they would enter the New Covenant through Christ.

There is another place in the Scriptures that I would like to take a look at, about the Antichrist and his followers.

9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. 13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (II Thessalonians 2)

The ones who are saved are the ones who believe in the Gospel, that is how they demonstrate their free will. Those who do not receive the Gospel also demonstrate their free will by rejecting the Word. One finds pleasure in obedience to God and the other finds pleasure in wickedness. Both of them demonstrate their free will. God, who is Omniscient, knew about their decisions before the foundation of the world but He did not choose for them. God does not choose for you either. How will you use your free will when it comes to God and spiritual things? Have you chosen eternal life through Jesus Christ?

Question:

In Revelation 12:14, we see a reference to time(s). What is the reference to? How much time is mentioned?

In the Greek language, the word that is translated “time” is “kairos” and it can refer to a specific amount of time or a general amount of time. This word “kairos” could be translated as, “time, period, year, epoch etc.”. The word draws its meaning from the context in which it is placed. In the case of this text and word, it is clear that the meaning is a “specific period of time”.

14 But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. (Revelation 12)

The question is, what is the specific amount of time referred to here? If we just focus on the context of Revelation 12, then we see that the author makes 2 references to the woman’s flight to the desert, where she will be cared for by God. In verse 6, we see that she will be cared for for 1,260 days.

6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days. (Revelation 12)

According to the Jewish calendar, a year was divided up into 360 days (12 months of 30 days). This means that 1,260 days is the equivalent of 3.5 years (three and a half ).

Having an overview of Biblical prophecy, we know that this flight to the desert refers to the Hebrews who will be persecuted by the Antichrist after he seats himself in the Temple as God. (II Thessalonians 2, Matthew 24:15-19)

In Revelation 13, we discover that the Antichrist is given a period of time to work, 42 months, which once again is 3.5 years (three and a half).

1 And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore. Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names. 2 And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority. 3 I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast ; 4 they worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast ; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?” 5 There was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. (Revelation 13)

In the book of Daniel, we find out that the Antichrist (the little horn that will arise from the 4th kingdom) is allowed to wear down the saints of the Highest One for a time, times, and half a time.

24 ‘As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise ; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings. 25 ‘He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, . . . ; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. (Daniel 7)

The period of time in Revelation that is described as 42 months, is described as a time, times, and half a time in the book of Daniel. This is once again 3.5 years (three and a half). The Antichrist will wear down the Jews for this period of time. Jesus warned the Jews about this time, just before going to the cross. He warned them when it would happen and what they were to do when they saw the events come about.

15 “Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand ), 16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. 17 “Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. 18 “Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. 19 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days ! 20 “But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath. 21 “For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. 22 “Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved ; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. (Matthew 24)

For those who are going to obey Jesus Christ’s warning, they will run to the mountains and be cared for by God for a period of time of 1,260 days, or in other words, 3.5 years (three and a half).

Question:

What does having a yearly Bible reading calendar mean? What are the advantages of it and where can I buy one of these calendars?

A yearly Bible reading calendar is dividing up the year into days where you read certain passages from the Bible on certain days and by the end of a calendar year, you read through the entire Bible. Realistically, you will end up reading about 3 to 6 chapters a day.

There are many different kinds of yearly Bible reading calendars:

Canonical – This plan goes straight through the Bible—from Genesis to Revelation.

Chronological - These readings are compiled according to recent historical research, taking into account the order in which the recorded events actually occurred. For example, if you read about David, then you will also read the psalms that he wrote in their respective order.

Historical - In this plan, the order of the Old Testament readings is very similar to Israel’s Hebrew Bible, progressing from Law to Prophets to Writings. The New Testament ordering is based upon research regarding the order in which the books were authored. The New Testament begins with James.

The Old and New Testaments together - each day you read a portion from the Old Testament and a portion from the New Testament. You follow the order of the Bible.

Blended - The Blended plan divides the Bible so that the reader will read books in a non-traditional sequence. For example, while one is reading the book of Isaiah, he is also reading the book of Mark.

It is a great idea for the entire family to set aside time every single day to read the Bible together according to one of these Bible reading plans. By doing this, the entire family will read through the entire Bible once a year, every single year. Our family reads according to the Chronological plan. It is also a good idea for every pastor/preacher to read through the Bible on a yearly basis according to one of the above mentioned plans.

You can download one of the plans that I linked to earlier and begin to use it today. Print out the plan and place it in your Bible as a reminder. At the end of each Bible reading session, check off the box for that day. If you miss a day, the next day, you need to read for that day and the previous day so that you will not get behind. By doing this, you will read through the Bible on a yearly basis.

Question:

In the Gospel of Matthew 16:28: “”Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”" Since that time, many generations of people have died, even though Jesus has yet to return. Does the reference of death here mean eternal death or did Jesus make a mistake by saying this to His disciples. Did He mean that the 11 disciples would not taste eternal death?

Those were the final words of chapter 16. Immediately, chapter 17 follows and gives us the answer your question.

1 Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here ; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased ; listen to Him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.” 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone. 9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.” (Matthew 17)

Peter, James, and John are 3 of the 12 disciples who were present when Jesus shared the words that some of them would not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. The next day, those 3 were taking to the mountain side and they saw Jesus “coming in His kingdom. Here are some of the elements that characterize the Lord’s presence in His kingdom as the 3 witnessed what happened on the mountain side.

Jesus’ face shone like the sun.

Jesus’ clothes became white as light.

Moses and Elijah (who were already in the Kingdom) were there speaking with Jesus.

God the Father spoke to the Son.

Therefore, the 3 apostles who were present with Christ on the mountain side were the “ones” who would not taste death until they saw the coming of the Son of Man in His kingdom. May the Lord bless us with faith that saves so that we can take part in the Lord’s coming kingdom.

Question:

I really do not understand this passage, “When you have finished paying all the tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the orphan and to the widow, that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied”. How does this teaching apply for us today?

Tithing, or giving 10% of all of your earnings was mandatory for every person of the nation of Israel. The tithe was set aside, first of all, for the Levites who were set apart to serve as the priest of God. They were not allowed to have any other source of income so that they could solely focus on holy service to the Lord. God wanted them to serve Him and the people faithfully, producing quality service. If you want to know how tithing applies to Christians then you need to realize that Jesus did not annul the practice of tithing and it is good for Christians to practice tithing in their local churches because this is a contribution to the spreading of the Gospel. Part of the tithe will be given to the pastor(s), decided on by the church of course (members), who faithfully serve and lead the members of the church by teaching the Word of God. This was the same service that the Levites offered the people.

Another important thing that we see in this passage is that each person in Israel was to have a personal relationship with the Levite who was serving them and this was manifested through the person’s giving of the tithe. We see a similar teaching in the New Testament, an exhortation to relate to our spiritual leaders correctly as well as personally through our “giving”. In the epistle to the Galatians we find the following:

6 The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. (Galatians 6)

So, the person who is taught the Word of God should learn to relate to his leader personally and this is to be done through sharing all good things (including “giving”). Unfortunately, there are few Christians today who appreciate the value of being taught sound doctrine from the Word of God and even fewer who know how to appreciate those who teach them. The Holy Word also teaches us:

12 But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction, (I Thessalonians 5)

Question:

I watched my father beat my mother for many years, starting during my early childhood. I never understood why he did what he did, especially since he was not intoxicated. He would constantly seek out small things to nag her and accuse her of doing. I received the same answer every time I cried out “Why?”, the answer was always “Keep your mouth shut”. When I was 14 years old, my father lost the deed to our apartment while at the casino and he then ran out on us. My mother and I had to fend for ourselves with nothing. After about 6 months, he came back. My mother accepted him back but I just could not do it. That happened 5 years ago. He now lives off the back of my mother. He does not work at all yet still has the nerve to yell at my mother. I am desperate. I know that I am supposed to forgive him but I cannot do it. I am overwhelmed with this situation.

This is a very sad situation and I am sorry to hear about your father’s actions. I know exactly what you are going through because a lived through a very similar situation during my childhood. My own father was an abusive man, both to my mother and to us children. In fact, my mother died from this abuse when I was 9 years old. My father then remarried and abandoned us. This caused me to hate my father and want revenge. I believed that I would never be able to forgive him for what he did. Every fiber of my being demonstrated the hate and pain of my father’s action and my inability to forgive, until I entered into the New Covenant with Jesus Christ, receiving God’s true and complete forgiveness.

You must understand that your father is a slave to sin, like all people who do not know God. The passions which control him caused him to lose the deed to the apartment at the casino as well as doing the other things that you have already described. It is not good that you have not communicated with him over the past 5 years. Lack of communication never solves any problem. You need to take initiative and go and speak with him so that he will understand why and how he has hurt you and maybe he will want to repent of his attitude and actions. First though, you must forgive him and allow God to give you compassion for your father or else you will not be of much use to him in leading him to repentance. In fact, if you try to talk to him without having forgiven him in your heart then the situation could get worse. You could get aggravated and he as well.

In order to be able to forgive and have compassion, you must begin to study the Word of God, seeking to understand what the New Covenant in Jesus Christ is and then enter the New Covenant. You must first come before God and ask Him for forgiveness for all of your sins. You must first understand and experience God’s forgiveness. Once you repent and experience God’s forgiveness, you will be born again and receive the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit will give you God’s love which is above our human understanding, but that love will cause you to love your father, forgive him, and have compassion on him. In fact, you will be able to forgive all who have wronged you and you will no longer harbor hatred in your heart.

Once, I was at an international conference for leaders and our teacher taught us a lesson on forgiveness. He read the following Biblical passage to us:

21 Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times ?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 “For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. 24 “When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. 25 “But since he did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. 26 “So the slave fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.’ 27 “And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt. 28 “But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii ; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe.’ 29 “So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’ 30 “But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. 31 “So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. 32 “Then summoning him, his lord said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 ‘Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?’ 34 “And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. 35 “My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.” (Matthew 18)

After reading the text, the teacher asked us how we would have responded to a person who borrowed such a large sum of money from us and then did not pay it back. Some said, “I would have taken all of his possessions”. Others said, “he would have to pay it back little by little for the rest of his life”. When it was my turn to answer, I said that I would have forgiven him and not asked him to pay back anything. Some of my colleagues in the group said that my answer was “too spiritual”, while others began to make jokes. I told them that now amount of money is equal to the life of my mother and my childhood which were destroyed by my father. I hated my father for this but on the day that I believed in Christ with all of my heart, I was forgiven by God and was given the power to forgive my father for his actions. I believe that if God made it where I was able to forgive my father then I believe that He would also give me the strength to forgive a person who owed a large sum of money and could not pay it back.

As I have written, you must first experience God’s forgiveness in order to be able to forgive your father. You may say that he must first come to you and ask for forgiveness in order to forgive him and that is a good question. Ideally, it would happen that way, but, before he does come and ask for forgiveness, you must first forgive him in your heart so that you will have compassion on him and desire to reestablish your relationship with him. This will help and prepare you to be able to speak of the love of God with him which can change his life and give him eternal forgiveness.

I am not sure if your mother accepted him back because she was able to forgive him or if that is her weakness in this relationship. The fact that your father continues on the way that he is causes me to think that the 2nd reason is the truth. You must also speak with your mother about God’s forgiveness and together you can help your father understand his sin so that he can ask God for forgiveness and mercy in order to be saved. May the Lord help you in this endeavor.

Question:

My girlfriend and I have 2 kids and we stay together. We have agreed to refrain from sexual relations because were ready to make it right with God. I know we’ve already been judge but does he punish you if you’re trying to do his will? Please help.

It is bad that you chose to cohabitate all these years, but it is a great thing that you have come to know the Lord and you want to obey His will by abstaining from sexual relations until you can legitimize your relationship before the Lord through the act of Holy Matrimony. May the Lord help you officiate the marriage ceremony as quickly as possible so that your marriage can be registered in the church and in the government records. Only then will you be able to enjoy the gift of the sexual relationship, given to us by God (for those who are married).

The prophet Isaiah begins with a sad description of the apostasy that had spread throughout Israel. God rebukes them harshly and then He calls them to repentance so that they can mend their ways saying the following:

16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean ; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight . Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good ; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow.
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow ; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.
19 “If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land ;
20 “But if you refuse and rebel, You will be devoured by the sword.” Truly, the mouth of the LORD has spoken. (Isaiah 1:16-20)

Do you see it? God says that their sins are like scarlet, that is, almost impossible to wash away yet if they will return to God with genuine repentance then He will wash away their sins and they will be as white as snow. God goes on to say that if they will obey Him, then they will eat the best of the land. The same is true for you as a couple. If you have chosen to follow the Lord by repenting of your sins then you have been completely forgiven. You are now under the New Covenant through Jesus Christ. If you are committed to being obedient to God from now on then you need to know that God wants to bless your marriage and will bless you with “the best of the land” in your marriage. Hold on tightly to Him.

Question:

I have a question. In Luke 22:30 the following is written, ” that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel”. My question is about “judging”. . . isn’t God the only One with this right, to judge others? If this is so, then how do you explain the following references (I Corinthians 6:2, Revelation 2:26-27, and 3:21).

I assume that the passage in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus said “do not judge unless you be judged” is your motivation in asking the above questions. The fact that this verse is taken out of context, misinterpreted, and applied incorrectly causes many people to judge what they should not and not judge what they should. The passage in Matthew reads as follows:

1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 “For in the way you judge, you will be judged ; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye ? 4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye ? 5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. (Matthew 7)

If we follow the text closely, we see that God presents two different kinds of judging, one that is wrong and another that is correct. You judge correctly when you see the log in your own eye first so that you can see the speck in your brother’s eye more clearly and then help your brother get the speck out of his eye. Improper judgment is when you only see the negative aspects of others but not your own. This type of judgment is called hypocritical and is incorrect.

The Apostles will judge the 12 tribes of Israel

There are many passages in the Bible that teach Christians that we are to judge. In fact, in some cases we are required to judge. The text from the Gospel of Luke deals with the initiation of the Lord’s Supper, started on the night that Jesus was betrayed, captured, and crucified the next day. During this painful time for Jesus, His disciples began to argue among themselves about who would be the greatest (leader) among them once Jesus was gone. He began to teach His disciples that this is how the kings of the world act and this is not the way that they (His disciples) should act. The greatest was to be the least, to serve the rest. They had already received great authority and position from God through their faith in Jesus Christ. Their Savior is about to prepare a kingdom for them just as the Father had prepared for Him. Jesus explained that they will sit at the table with Him and judge the 12 tribes of Israel. Jesus gives authority to the disciples to sit and judge the 12 tribes of Israel.

The saints will judge the world and the angels (I Corinthians 6:2)

The Apostle Paul was very upset because the Christians in Corinth had many misunderstandings among themselves. The thing that upset him the most was the fact that the saints were taking each other to court over these misunderstandings, going to non believing judges to resolve their problems.

1 Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints ? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world ? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts ? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels ? How much more matters of this life ? 4 So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church ? 5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren, (I Corinthians 6)

Paul explains that there is a superior “court” for the believers, superior to the legal system of the state, and that superior court is to be held in the church by the believers. The church is to judge matters among the members and the believers were not to shame one another by taking their problems to court. Within this context, Paul shares a great truth, that we as believers are going to judge the world. Followers of Jesus Christ receive this authority and position from Christ and because we are under the New Covenant (we enter it when we repent and accept Christ) we will one day judge the world. We will even judge angels.

The saints will rule the nations (Revelation 2:26-27)

In the book of Revelation, in chapters 2-3, the Lord Jesus addresses the 7 churches of Asia. In His message to the church of Thyatira we read the following:

26 ‘He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, TO HIM I WILL GIVE AUTHORITY OVER THE NATIONS ; 27 AND HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON, AS THE VESSELS OF THE POTTER ARE BROKEN TO PIECES, as I also have received authority from My Father ; (Revelation 2)

The saints will sit on the Lord Jesus Christ’s throne of judgment (Revelation 3:21)

The authority and position of judging the nations will be given by Jesus Christ to His followers who lived a lifestyle of obedience while living on the earth.

21 ‘He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. (Revelation 3)

May the Lord help us discern between the correct form of judging and the incorrect form of judging so that we can be pleasing to Him at all times, especially in our relationship with Him, the Church, and the world around us.
